Dr Gene-Siew Ngian — MBBS (HONS), FRACP, PhD
After graduating with Honours from the University of Melbourne, Dr Ngian worked at St Vincent’s Hospital before moving on to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Monash Medical Centre where she completed her rheumatology training. She later completed a PhD at the University of Melbourne examining the cardiovascular manifestations of scleroderma.
Dr Ngian enjoys treating a wide range of rheumatological conditions and understands the importance of a patient-centred approach to care.
Dr Maree Micallef — MBBS (HONS), FRACP
Dr Micallef is a consultant rheumatologist who graduated from Melbourne University with honours and trained at St Vincent’s Hospital, Western Hospital and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. She built on her experience in inflammatory arthritis during a fellowship in Cambridge (UK) in 2013 after being awarded the Victorian Australian Rheumatology Association (ARA) fellowship.
Dr Micallef enjoys providing patient-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team and has an interest in medical education. She also works at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Skin and Cancer Foundation Inc. and the University of Melbourne.
Dr Julia Sewell - B. Physio (Hons), MBBS (Hons), FRACP
Dr Sewell is a rheumatologist who completed her training through Alfred Health, Monash Medical Centre and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Prior to becoming a doctor, Dr Sewell worked as a physiotherapist. Dr Sewell also has an interest in medical education and is currently studying a Masters in Narrative Medicine through Columbia University which involves the intersection of literature, medicine, and stories of illness.
Dr Sewell enjoys treating a wide range of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions and has expertise in biomechanical and musculoskeletal causes of joint pains through her experience as a physiotherapist.
